Analysis of the Košice Self-Governing Region

The analysis shows a general overview of the level and conditions on the labour market, of unemployment and focuses on a thorough research in particular industrial sectors. It can be stated that the Košice Region is one of the economically most important regions in the Slovak Republic. Industry with a relatively diversified sectoral structure is a crucial part of the economic base of the region. Development of the industrial base of the region has been affected by mineral resources, persistence of traditional production, production location decisions, chemical and energy industries, good conditions for primary agricultural production on the Eastern Slovak Lowland, as well as by abundance of skilled workers.

Analysis of the Prešov Self-Governing Region

The analysis is focused mainly on identifying the economic level of the region. According to results, registered unemployment rate reached 17.48 % at the end of September 2014 in Prešov Region – which is one of the highest figures in Slovakia. Development of unemployment in the Prešov Region has long been affected by a very low demand for labour shown by employers. The most important sector of the economy is commerce, majority of business entities are active in this particular segment. Industry, agriculture and forestry with good conditions for tourism development build the economic potential of the Prešov Region.
